A Growing Family
Brenda called the Nursery from the hospital. She was in labor, about to have a baby at any minute. She didn't have anyone to care for her three-year-old daughter, Alisa, and she called the Nursery for help. Luckily, the Nursery was able to place little Alisa right away. One of the Family Advocates took a cab to the hospital to personally bring Alisa to the Nursery-Brenda didn't even have anyone who could bring her daughter safely to the Nursery.
Alisa was scheduled to stay at the Nursery for 72 hours. During that time Brenda informed us that she had delivered a new healthy baby girl, but that the baby needed to stay in the hospital for a few days until she gained a little more weight. Unfortunately, Brenda had developed pneumonia and would not be out of the hospital in time to pick up Alisa.
Nursery Family Advocates contacted Hennepin County , and were able to get approval to keep Alisa for an additional 72 hours so that Brenda could remain in the Hospital until she got better. The family was reunited after the additional three days. |
